I’m going to skip all of the small stuff and jump right into my favorites of the year. Albums, films, and games (everything that I’ve enjoyed in 2015). For in depth lists of gaming please check out the podcast. I had a super fun time talking shit with a couple of my best buds and I hope all of you have just as good a time listening. Well, anyways, I digress. Without any further ado here are my favorites of 2015.

Favorite Albums
#5 Chelsea Wolfe: Abyss
Gorgeously dark and twisted. Her voice just swirls.

#4 The World Is A Beautiful Place… Harmlessness
Angsty and pretty emo that’s damn gripping.

#3 Sufjan Stevens: Carrie & Lowell
Simplicity at its finest.

#2 Intronaut: The Direction Of Last Thing
Progressive metal that doesn’t feel bland. That’s crazy hard to pull off.

#1 We Lost The Sea: Departure Songs
Even without vocals Departure Songs can bring out every human emotion. Breathtaking!

Favorite Films
#5 Sicario
Denis Villeneuve continues to make intense and wonderful films. A director at the top of his game.

#4 It Follows
Definitely wasn’t expecting a teen horror flick about getting STDs to be so effing great.

#3 The Martian
A witty script and great direction make for a wonderful film.

#2 Ex Machina
Yes, it has its flaws and it may be a teensy bit predictable, but damn what a beautiful film with a wonderful take on AI.

#1 Mad Max: Fury Road
One of the best action films of all time… Period.

Favorite Games
#5 Bloodborne
Insanely gorgeous and dark landscape with horrifyingly insane creatures. Hard as F&%K though.

#4 Pillars Of Eternity
I need to play more of this fantastic dungeon crawler.

#3 Undertale
Sweet soundtrack and an even sweeter indie rpg akin to 90s favorites.

#2 Ori And The Blind Forest
Just finished this beauty and love it so much. Great landscapes and great flow.

#1 The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt
The Witcher 3 has it all. Need I say more?

Guys, I totally know E3 is happening now, and I also realize all the press conferences are done, however, travel with me back in time. To a simpler time, of last Sunday. Back then, we didn’t know about Fallout 4 details, or The Last Guardian was happening, or that Shenmue 3 was totally a thing happening. Let’s all gather round the glow of the monitor, or the smart phone, or where ever you listen to podcasts and recount Wally and Daron’s E3 hopes, dreams, and predictions.

Okay, so here’s the deal, Wally and I, not the most qualified individuals to discuss Pokemon, however they are a large portion of Smash, so we attempt to discuss.  We also talk about the r/Pokemon subreddit and what horrible dickwads those guys are.  Jesus Christ, they are Nazis.  Fun Fact: I was banned from r/Pokemon because of this episode.  Miserable dicks.

Hello everyone!

I know what you’re thinking. “Utterlygeek was making podcasts and then they stopped! What’s going on?!” Well, let me tell you. We’ve been busy. People are finishing up school. Others are going out to hang out with other people. We all have our own schedules. It’s been such a long time since we did a podcast, I grew a year older! Seriously. That long. We will be back. Don’t worry. And believe me, Daron and I have been having some awesome conversations that we definitely want to share with all of you. In any case, enjoy the goddamn weather! I sure as hell am.

Until next time,

So Wally, Priya and myself spent this last weekend at PAX East. We were lucky enough to get a few invites to the Guild Wars 2 Beta. We have six up for grabs. So here’s what we’ll do: post in these comments your desired Race/profession mix and the reason, and we’ll pick the six that tickle us best. Go Weird with it. You don’t have to play as it but the weirder the better. Good Luck!

UPDATE: Whoa guys! Thanks for the interest! We will be announcing the winner this Thursday. Each of us will be selecting two winners. So you have to appeal to at least one of us. Good luck again. And so everyone is on the same page unfortunately this pass is only good for the first Guild Wars weekend event. Not our choice but at least you get to play!
From what I’ve been seeing we have some really creative entries. Keep up the good work!
